Book Description
البتاني هو محمد بن جابر بن سنان الحرّاني الرقي الصابىء. أبو عبد الله المعروف بالبتاني: فلكي مهندس. ولد قبل سنة 244هـ (858م) وكان من أهل حرّان وسكن الدقة واشتغل برصد الكواكب من سنة 264-306هـ وهو صاحب (الزيج ط) المعروف زيج الصابىء، ثلاثة أجزاء، وطبعت ترجمته إلى اللاتينية في نور مبرج في سنة "1537" وقالوا أنه أصح من زيج بطليموس. ومن كتبه: "معرفة مطالع البروج فيما بين أرباع القلق" وشرح أربع مقالات لبطليموس، ورسالة في "تحقيق أقدار الاتصالات". وهذا الكتاب يؤرخ لسيدة هذا العالم الفلكي العربي إلا أن المؤلف آثر استهلال كتابه هذا بلمحة حول الملامح العلمية في الدقة إلى نهاية القرن الرابع الهجري ليقدم بعد ذلك نبذة عن علم الفلك وآيات الجغرافية الفلكية في القرآن ومن الرياضيات والفلك في القرنين الثالث والرابع وعن عصر البتاني (214هـ/317هـ) 850م/929م) منتقلاً من ثم لتقديم ترجمة الحياة لبتاني مستعرضاً مؤلفاته ومبيناً قيمتها العلمية.
