يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن سيرة السلطان "تيبو" المسمى "فتح علي خان" (1750- 1799م) حاكم ولاية ميسور الهندية الجنوبية خلال الفترة من 1782م إلى 1799م، وهي الفترة التي لعب فيها المسلمون دوراً قيادياً حيث كانوا في سدة الحكم في البلاد. يوضح الكتاب جهود السلطان تيبو في الدفاع عن الهند ومحاربته إياه، حيث برز بكل شجاعة إلى ساحة القتال بكل ما كان يملك من عدة وعتاد، وأسلحة حربية، وإستعدادات عسكرية، فبدأ يحث ملوك الهند وأمراءها على محاربة الإنكليز، وقام تحقيقاً بهذا الغرض بالمرسالة مع سليم العثماني حاكم تركيا، وغيره من الملوك المسلمين، وأمراء الهند، وبعث سفرائه إلى فرنسا وتركيا وإيران وغيرها من الدول، تهيئة للجو على الصعيد العالمي، وتعاون معه نابليون أيضاً، وساعده في هدفه في القضاء على الإستعمار البريطاني الخطير المتمدَد، فظل السلطان "تيبو" في مواجهة دائمة وحرب شديدة مع الإنكليز طوال حياته، ولكن الذي حدث أن الإنكليز نجحوا في استمالة الأمراء من جنوب الهند إلى جانبهم، إلى أن نال هذا المجاهد الشهادة في (4 مايو 1799م) في معركة "سري رانغا باتنام" وعندما بلغ خبر شهادته إلى الجنرال "هارس" قال "الهند أصبحت لنا منذ اليوم".
يأتي هذا العمل في أربعة وعشرون باباً تتحدث عن سيرة هذا المجاهد البطل، وميزاته وحروبه، ووضع الهند أثناء الحكم الإسلامي في القرن الثاني عشر الهجري وما تخلل هذه الفترة من أحداث.
