تكمن أهمية هذا الكتاب في عدة أمور، منها: 1-أنه يتحدث عن تاريخ العشرة الأوائل من سلاطين الدولة العثمانية إلى سنة (928هـ) بإيجاز، ويفصّل في تاريخ السلطان سليم الأول وابنه السلطان سليمان القانوني، 2-أنه مصدر مهمّ لتاريخ ضمِّ البلاد العربية للدولة العثمانية، فهو يذكر الأحداث والمعارك التي حصلت في الشام ومصر خلال تلك الفترة ضد المماليك، ودخول الحجاز في حكم العثمانيين، وكذلك حروب السُّلطان سليم ضد الصَّفويين في الشرق، 3-أنه يذكر جزءاً من تاريخ الحجاز وخاصة مكة والمدينة، وفضل أهلها، 4-أن مؤلِّف هذا الكتاب معاصر للدولة العثمانية، وهو شاهد عيان لبعض هذه الأحداث، وخاصة التي وقعتْ في عهد السلطان سليم الأول وابنه السلطان سليمان القانوني، وقد ألف هذا الكتاب في الروم في مدينة بورصا سنة (928هـ)، 5-هذا الكتاب لمؤرِّخ ومحدِّث مشهور هو جار الله بن فهد المكي الذي بلغت مؤلَّفاته أكثر من خمسين مصنَّفاً، 6-تطرِّق لأحداث إقتصادية مهمّة، مثل: إرتفاع الأسعار في مكة في بعض السنوات وخاصة في القرن التاسع وأوائل القرن العاشر الهجريَّين، وما سبَّبه ذلك من مجاعات مرَّت بها مكة في عدة سنوات، وطريقة تعامل المماليك ثم العثمانيين مع ذلك، 7-تطرَّق الكتاب إلى أمور عقدية مثل وجوب السَّمع والطاعة لولي الأمر وأهمية الإلتزام بذلك وأورد في ذلك عدداً من الأدلة، 8-يقدِّم وصفاً لبعض المدن التي زارها وكل ما شاهده فيها، ويذكر ما بني فيها من مدارس ومساجد والزوايا وغيرها، 9-لم يهمل الحوادث المحلِّية في كل إقليم، 10-أنه ذكر فيه أموراً دينية وسياسية وحربية وإقتصادية.
