ما أن قدم لى مخرج الأفلام التسجيلية الكبير محمود سامى عطا الله كتابه عن رائد السينما التسجيلية فى مصر "سعد نديم" حتى غمرتنى فرحة شديدة لأسباب عده منها .الأول أهمية الفيلم الوثائقى كوسيلة اتصال قادرة على إحداث التغيير فى المجتمع رغم قلة الإهتمام بها فى بلدنا. السبب الثانى أن المخرج الراحل الكبير "سعد نديم" لم يلق حظة من النشر حول افلامة الخالدة التى حفظت .لنا أحداثاً مهمة شكلت صفحات مضيئة فى تاريخ مصر والعالم العربى فهو من حفظ لنا عملية نقل معبد "فيلة" الأصلى إلى جزيرة "اجليكا" فى اسوان قبل ان تغمره مياه النيل.جراء بناء السد العالى وصور لنا جهود منظمة الينوسكو لأنقاذ اثار النوبة من الغرق ونقلها فى اماكن جديدة حفظت لنا إنجازات عبقرية للمصرى القديم مازالت تبهر العالم بجمالها . ولأيمانى الشديد أن السينما الوثائقية هى مظهر حضارى فى المجتمعات المتقدمة وأحلم بالإهتام بها فى مصر ., إهتام يوازى مكانة بلدى العالية ,فليس معقولا أن بلدان مثل "الموزمبيق" و"غانا" و"جنوب أفريقيا" تقيم مهرجانات خاصة للفيلم الوثائقى ونظل نحن فى الظل رغم وجود كفاءات سينمائية مصرية تمتلك حسا فنيا راقياً يمكنها من التقاط تفاصيل واقعية صغيرة تشكل فى مجموعها لوحة فنية مصرية أصيلة تعيد لنا فهم واقعنا وإنجازاتنا, والأحلام كثيرة لنحول كل قبح فى حياتنا الى جمال من خلال تعليم المواطن المصرى تذوق الفيلم الوثائقى حتى نشكل وعيا جديداً لتحقيق المستحيل والقضاء على الجهل المتغلغل فى مجتمعنا, لكل هذا نسعد بتقديم هذا الكتاب القيم لسيرة مخرج رائد.
