أدت المؤثرات الحسية دوراً فاعلاً في عملية تصور مكونات النص الشعري بما أحدثته من ممارسة تمثلية حية في إنبثاقات الدلالة، وتشكل المعنى داخل سياق النص الشعري.
وقد استثمر الشاعر العربي القديم هذا المفهوم للمؤثر الحسي ليحدث ذلك الأثر النفسي في ذات المتلقي عند حدوث عملية التلقي، وقد احتلت المؤثرات الحسية خاصية إبداعية في الشعر العربي القديم نظراً لمكانتها الفاعلة في التجربة الحسية داخل أطر الإبداع الفني، وبرزت ذلك الأهمية بشكل رئيس من خلال قدرتها على نقل الواقع الحسي من جهة، وإعادة بعثه في ذات المتلقي من جهة أخرى.
فالصورة الشعرية تنبثق من فكر الشاعر إلى فعل التشكل والتمثل في مخيلة المتلقي بفضل ما يؤديه المعنى الحسي من دلالات، فلا يمكن الحديث عن صورة شعرية بدون معان مؤدية لها ومعبرة عنها، فهي تعد من أهم أدواتها، وفعل حضورها الذي يعطيها حق الوجود، والتحقق الفعلي، ويكتسب المعنى قوته وتأثيره من خلال المؤثرات الحسية التي تسهم في تشكل أبعاده، فالمعاني التصورية الحسية تسبق الألفاظ في الوجود ولا يحدث التأثير الجمالي والنفسي والإبلاغي إلا بفضل مؤداها الوظيفي في النص الشعري.
