نشر كتاب «في قلب مصر: أرض الفراعنة على شفا الثورة» للمرة الأولى عام 2008، ونجح على نحو مثير للدهشة في التنبؤ باندلاع الثورة المصرية ما جعله يلقى قبولًا واسع النطاق. أثار الكتاب موجة انتقادات في وسائل الإعلام الدولية عندما منع الرئيس السابق حسني مبارك تداوله في مصر. وعندما اندلعت الثورة التي تنبأ بها الكتاب على نحو فريد في يناير/ كانون الثاني2011 ، أصبح الكتاب مرجعًا أساسيًا لمن يريد التعرف على الأسباب الكامنة وراء اندلاع الثورة في أكثر دول العالم العربي تعدادًا للسكان.
