لقد تم إعداد هذا القاموس ليلبي حاجة الالب الماسة في مراحل دراسته المتوسطة والثانوية وما بعدها. ولكي يحقق هذا القاموس غرضه، فقد وقف المؤلف أمام اختيار الكلمة باللغة الإنكليزية وضرورتها على إعطاء أكثر من مرادف واحد لها في اللغة العربية ليسهل على الطالب معناها، لأن المرادف الواحد كثيراً ما يصلل، خاصة وأن هناك معانٍ متعددة للمفردة الواحدة. هذا وقد راعي المؤلف استخدام اللغة العربية العظمى المبسطة والمفهومة، لكن أحياناً كان يضطر لاستخدام بعض الكلمات الشائعة لأنها ربما تكون أقرب للمعنى المقصود للكلمة.
وإدراكاً من المؤلف لأهمية بعض الموضوعات التي تهم الطالب في هذه المرحلة فقد أمرد بعض الملاحق: ملحق رقم (1): يعالج موضوع صياغة الفعل الماضي، واسم المفعول من جذر الفعل لما يزيد عن 250 فعلاً. ملحق رقم (2) يعالج موضوع الاشتقاقات: اسم الفاعل أو الصفة أو المصدر أو الاسم من الفعل. ملحق رقم (3): يعالج موضوع أسماء البلدان أو الأماكن وأسماء شعوبها. ملحق رقم (4): يعالج موضوع المفردات التي كثيراً ما تشكل على الطالب عند استعمالها. ملحق رقم (5): يعالج موضوع Prefixes and suffixcs في اللغة الإنكليزية. ملحق رقم (6): يعالج بعض الاصطلاحات الشائعة مع حرف الجر الأكثر تداولاً واستخداماً.
