ولأن "إصلاح المنطق" وصل إلى القراء عبر عدة نماذج وبصور مختلفة، فقد تحمل المحقق الدكتور "فخر الدين قباوة" مشقة العودة إلى نسخ الكتاب المتفرقة في المكتبات والمتفاوتة الزمن بدءاً من نسخة قديمة موجودة بالمدينة المنورة، مروراً بنسخة من القرن الرابع في مدينة المنصورة... وثماني نسخ من القرن الخامس، وعشر نسخ من القرن السادس، وأربع نسخ من القرن السابع... وصولاً إلى سبع نسخ من القرن الثامن وإلى القرن الرابع عشر...
وقد بذل الدكتور قباوة جهداً مضنياً لإعادة نص ابن السكيت إلى ما كان عليه بدون إضافة أو تشويه أو تحريف أو تصحيف...

أثبت مضمون الحواشي والطرر التي جاءت في النسخ، مختصره وملحقة بما يناسبها، لبيان أقوال العلماء والمعلقين على النص وجزئياته المختلفة...
