السيد محمّد حسين الحسيني الطهراني عارف وفيلسوف وفقيه شيعي، عاش في القرن العشرين، وتوفّي عام 1416 للهجرة، يعود نسبه إلى النبي محمّد، وينحدر من أسرة علميّة عريقة، درس العلوم الحديثة كما درس العلوم الدينيّة والشرعيّة في والحوزات العلميّة الشيعيّة في قم والنجف، كان له تأثير كبير في نشر المعارف والعلوم الإسلاميّة بين الشيعة، يعدّ من التلامذة الخاصّين والمقرّبين من المفسّر الشيعي السيد محمّد حسين الطباطبائي المشهور بالعلامة الطباطبائي صاحب كتاب تفسير الميزان، كما يتعتبر أبرز تلميذ للعارف السيد هاشم الحداد، ألّف العديد من الكتب التي لم يكن لها نظير في المكتبة الشيعيّة، واشتهر بين الناس باسم العلامة الطهراني، بعد انتهائه من دراسته وحصوله على شهادة الإجتهاد من مراجع النجف، انتقل للسكن في طهران مسقط رأسه، وقام بمهامه في تبليغ المعارف والعلوم الدينيّة، ثمّ انتقل بعد انتصار الثورة الإسلاميّة في إيران إلى مدينة مشهد بجوار الإمام علي الرضا، وتوّفي ودفن أحد صحون مقام الإمام الرضا.

يعد المؤلف بأن الحملة الغربية التي تشنها الأوساط الغريبة على المجتمعات الإسلامية متنوعة الأساليب والأهداف، والمطالبة بتحديد النسل تأتى كمطلب في هذه الحملة، إذ أن المؤلف يرى بأن الغرب عقد العزم على استئصال نسل المسلمين بإعلامهم الواسع في كل مكان، وبتبديل المجتمع الإسلامي القوي السالم الرشيد إلى أفراد مرض متهالكين عاجزين يعانون من الاختلافات العصبية والجنون، وذلك بوسائل متعددة (الجرائد والمجلات وأجهزة الإعلام، العناوين التي تحدث عن الاقتصاد وعن جمال المدينة وعن الحياة المريحة...) يسعى الغرب إلى تحديد نسل المسلمين مغيبين العواقب الوخيمة لهذه الجنايات، وليكون المسلم يقظاً وعلى وعي بما وراء تلك الشعارات.
جاء هذا الكتاب الذي يجدد من خلاله حرمة قتل النفس بكل مراحلها في الدين الإسلامي، وذلك على ضوء الآيات القرآنية لينتقل بعد ذلك لعرض آراء المخالفين من مسألة الحد من عدد السكان ملقياً الضوء بعد ذلك على آراء الإمام الخميني في هذا الشأن مستعرضاً من ثم الأضرار الناجمة عن عملية الخلاف الأنابيب لدى النساء ليتطرق إلى الحديث حول تأكيد الإسلام وحثه على زيادة النسل، ومن ثم ليرد على فلسفة مالتوس ومن تبع منهجه... ليختتم الكتاب بحديث حول تعارض فلسفة الإسلام وروح الإيمان مع الحد من عدد السكان.
