(سلافة العصر في محاسن أهل العصر) من مشاهير كتب تراجم الشعراء ترجم فيه إبن معصوم (علي بن أحمد نظام الدين) (توفي سنة 1711م) لزهاء (128) شاعراً من مجيدي الشعر من أعلام القرن السابع عشر الميلادي، وأورد من نتائج أفكارهم ما تطرب الألباب لسماعه من محاسن أهل العصر وأخبارهم. وقسمه إلى خمسة أقسام هي:
1- القسم الأول: في محاسن أهل الحرمين الشريفين، وفيه فصلان: الأول لأهل مكة، ترجم فيه لــ (33) شخصية، والثاني لأهل المدينة وترجم فيه لــ (12) شخصية.
2- القسم الثاني: في محاسن أهل الشام ومصر ونواحيهما، وترجم فيه لــ (37) شخصية.
3- القسم الثالث: في محاسن أهل اليمن، وترجم فيه لــ (13) شخصية.
4- القسم الرابع: في محاسن أهل العجم والبحرين والعراق وفيه فصلان: الأول في محاسن أهل العجم، وترجم فيه لــ (4) شخصيات، والثاني في محاسن أهل البحرين والعراق، وترجم فيه لــ (18) شخصية.
5- القسم الخامس: في محاسن أهل المغرب، وترجم فيه لــ (8) شخصيات.
ولأهمية هذه المخطوطة دأب الدكتور "محمد خلف البادي" إلى التحقيق فيها بالإعتماد على نسختين الأولى، نسخة المدينة المنورة، والثانية: نسخة المكتبة الظاهرية بدمشق، بعد أن قام بدراسة وافية وشاملة للمؤلف، متناولاً التعريف به، وبثقافته، ومكانته العلمية، وأقوال العلماء فيه ودراسة عصره، والإنتقال بعد ذلك إلى تحقيق المخطوط وفق الأساليب العلمية المعهودة من شرح، وضبط للألفاظ، وتخريج للأشعار وغيرها.
