هبط في بطء رصين منتظرًا تلك اللحظات الإنفجار العظيمة، في جزء من داخل قلبه يود لو يؤجل كل ذلك قليلًا، ولكنه يعلم أنه لم يعد سيد قراره، أكمل نزوله، وظل يتجول كثيرًا، حتى وصل إلى أحياء مصر الفاطمية، مضى يتنقل بين الجمالية والحسين والأزهر والخليفة، يسير في أزقة ضيقة ناظرًا إلى الجميع في تعجب، يود لو يخبرهم أن الموت حاضرًا فيهم، وأنه ليس عليهم انتظاره. يموت فقط من كان يحيا، أما الغالبية فهي ميتة بالفعل، تموت كل يوم وسط الجبن والخوف واللامبالاة.
