إن الجدل الحاصل في التجنيس بين الرواية والحكاية في (الجنية) ما كان ليحدث لو نُظر إلى النص من خلال التناص، ولأصبح ذلك جمالاً إبداعياً يضاف إلى النص ولا يؤخذ عليه.
إن غازي القصيبي وظف خبراته وثقافته السياسية والتعليمية والأدبية في هذا النص الذي جاء بعد سنوات مديدة من الخبرة والثقافة والإبداع، لذلك جاءت الرواية ناقدة ومستعرضة لآراء جريئة تتضح بالخبرة كشف عنها المتناصات الكثيرة، كما أن في الرواية صفحات ورسومات قد لا يهتم لها القارئ عادة وترتبط بالمؤلف لكن دراستها ضمن محيط النص تكشف أهميتها ودورها في صناعة نص متكامل، يروم منها المؤلف مقصديات تظهر من خلال تواشجها مع النص من جهة والمؤلف من جهة أخرى.
كما أن النصوص التي تستقل في بنيتها عن النص لا تعد زائدة أو إضافة هامشية، فقد استثمر القصيبي أسلوب القص الشعبي الشفهي وحوله من منطوق إلى مكتوب ليتحدث عن نصوص ترتبط بالنص لكنها لا تدخل ضمن بنيته الحكائية وتؤدي دلالة فريدة تكشف عنها الدراسة من خلال فصولها ومباحثها.
