جيفري لانج بالإنجليزية: (Jeffrey Lang), من مواليد (30 يناير 1954، مدينة برديجبورت) بروفيسور أمريكي في الرياضيات. يعمل حالياً في قسم الرياضيات في جامعة كنساس.
استلم شهادة الفلسفة من جامعة باردو سنة 1981. كانت الرسالة عن سطح زاريسكي (Zariski surface). وكتبها تحت توجيهات ويليام هاينزر وبايتور بلاس.
ولد جيفري لانج لعائلة كاثوليكية، درس أيضاً في مدرسة كاثوليكية، رغم أنه درس بمدرسه كاثوليكية طوال سنوات حياته، بعد حصوله على الدكتوراه في الرياضيات وبعد سنوات من التدريس في جامعة سان فرانسسكو، في بدايات 1980، تعرف د. لانج على عائلة مسلمة توطدت معها علاقة صداقة. لم يكن الدين محل نقاش بينهم ولكن كان يسأل بعض الأسئلة عليهم. العائلة المسلمة لم يكن لديها الكثير من الأجوبة وواجهت وقتا صعبا في الرد، إلا أنهم أعطوه نسخة مترجمة من القرآن
قرأه د. لانج بعد فترة لفضوله. وبعد قراءة القرآن أسلم ، ويؤكد د. لانغ أنه يجد راحة روحية كبيرة بصفته مسلم.

"وإذ قال ربك للملئكة إني جاعل في الارض خليفة قالو أتجعل فيها من يفسد فيها ويسفك الدماء ونحن نسبح بحمدك ونقدس لك قال إني أعلم ما لا تعلمون" حتى الملائكة( الذين لم يكونوا أبدا من العاصين) سألو عن حكمة الله في خلق الإنسان(العاصي المذنب)، وهكذا المسلمون أيضا لا يجب أن يتوقفوا أبدا عن طرح أسئلة مناسبة حول االله والعالم، وحول أنفسهم ومع ذلك وبسبب الرؤية التقليدية العكسية فقد إستلزم الأمر بعض الشجاعة لكي يقترح د.لانج أن كل جيل من المسلمين ملزم بأن يعيد فحص وتأكيد أسس عقيدته ؛"حيث إن المعرفة تنمو مع الزمن" وفي الحقيقة، هو يعتقد أنه سيكون بالتأكيد خطأ فادحا أن نعتمد دون تبصر على أحكام الماضي وأن "تجعل الرأي شريعة" إلا إذا كان الإنسان يرغب في"الضمور والتحلل". وهذا بطبيعة الحال، هو بالتأكيد ما لا يقبله المؤلف، بل على العكس فهو يعالج بطريقة مباشرة كثيرا من القضايا بالغة الحساسية ومنها تلك التساؤلات حول "القضاء والقدر"و"العدل الإلهي" لم يقدم أي حلول لهذه المشاكل بل أشار إلا أنها تستعصى على الحل لأن قدرة الإنسان على تصنيف الزمان والمكان إنما هي صالحة له وحده هكذا يرفع المؤلف مشاكل لا تصل إلى منزله أعلى من الإدراك حيث لا يمكن طرح أسئلة أكثر.
