من منطلق أن عملية التربية عملية انسانية يسعى المجتمع من خلالها إلى بناء وتنمية افراده، ولذا فأن هذا الكتاب يتناول فى الفصل الأول مفهوم الأنشطة التربوية وأهميتها، وأهدافها وخصائصها ووظائفها.
وفى الفصل الثانى الجماعات المدرسية ومكوناتها من خلال التعرض لأنواع النشاط المدرسى خارج الفصل من خلال جماعات الصحافة المدرسية، الاذاعة، الموسيقى والمسرح، والرحلات والزيارات والمسابقات الثقافية والفنية والعملية بالاضافة للقيمة التربوية للنشاط خارج الفصل.
أما الفصل الثالث فيتناول دور النشاط فى تعلم المواد الدراسية ومحو التخلف الثقافى من خلال استعراض طرق التخطيط والتمويل وتنفيذ الأنشطة التربوية، والفصل الرابع يتناول النشاط المدرسى فى المذاهب الفلسفية والتربوية المختلفة.
والفصل السادس يتناول مراكز مصادر التعلم وتقنيات مصادر المعرفة وذلك فى ظل ثورة المعلومات ونقدم وسائل التكنولوجيا الحديثة وأمكانيات استغلالها فى عمليات التعلم عن بعد والتعلم الذاتى والفردى وأستخداماتها فى تدريب المعلمين أثناء الخدمة.
والفصل السابع والأخير يتناول دراسة ميدانية لواقع الأنشطة التربوية بالمرحلة الابتدائية بمحافظة الأسكندرية كتدريب للطالب المعلم على اجراء الدراسات الميدانية للتعرف على واقع الأنشطة فى مدرسة أو ادارته وتقييم اداء المعلمين بالنسبة لهذه الأنشطة.
