إن ممارسة الرياضة يصاحبها دائماً إحتمالات مؤكدة لحدوث الإصابة حيث لا يوجد أسلوب تدريبي تنعدم معه فرص حدوث الإصابة فمن المهم البحث في الأساليب والطرق التي تساعد على الإقلال من حدوث الإصابة في الملاعب . يجب أن يكون اهتمام بالعوامل التي تقلل من حدوث الإصابات بنفس الاهتمام بالتدريب الرياضي للإعداد للبطولات وهنا يجب التأكيد على أنه لا يمكن تفاديها نهائياً ولكن على الأقل الإقلال من فرص حدوثها إلى أقل حد ممكن ولهذا يجب أن يكون العاملين في المجال الرياضي الحرص على توفير عوامل الأمن والسلامة إلى أقصى حد للمشتركين في المنافسات ووقايتهم من خطر الإصابة . ورغم كل تلك الجهود الجبارة للمحاولة على أقل تقدير لتقليل الإصابات الرياضية إلا أنه مع كثرة الدوافع تكثر الإصابات لذا بدأ الإتجاه إلى التأهيل ودوره وأهميته في تقليل فترة الإصابة وسرعة عودة اللاعب إلى الملاعب كما كان قبل الإصابة عليه بدنياً وذهنياً ونفسياً ومهارياً عن طريق التأهيل الفسيولوجي أو التشريح أو حتى النفسي للاعب بشتى الطرق الإيجابية والصحية .
