الهدف الأساسي من هذه السلسلة من الدراسات هو إبراز دور الشعب المصري منذ عرف مقاومة الظلم والاستغلال من خلال الثورات التي مارسها بدءاً بمقاومته للحملة الفرنسية ثم للأتراك والمماليك وفي النهاية الإنجليز في حملة فريزر مع تناول بعض المواقف التي تمرد فيها هذا الشعب أو جزء منه على الاستبداد والقهر واستغلال الحكام الوطنيين أو المحليين أو الغرباء عنه لدرجة الثورة عليهم وذلك فيما قبل الحملة الفرنسية ثم دراسة للثورة العرابية ثم ثورة 1919 وفي النهاية ثورة 23 يوليو 1952 مع تحليل لمكنونان الشخصية المصرية التي لم تستسلم أبداً للقهر والظلم رغم صبرها الطويل على المكارة فقد كان الشعب المصري عقب فشله أو توقفه عن الثورة والتمرد في كل مرحلة مقهوراً بقوة البطش والقهر يضغط على نفسه لفترة قد تطول أو تقصر لأجل استئناف ثورته مرة أخرى دون أن يفقد شخصيته المصرية المتميزة بالصبر واستمرار التمرد على القهر والذل والاستغلال. وحيث أن أساس هذا البحث هو ثورات مصر فقد وجب التعريف بظاهرة الثورة وبالظواهر الأخرى للأعمال الإيجابية الشعبية في مقاومة القهر والاستغلال بدءاً من الانتفاضة أو الحركة إلى الانقلاب.
ويعالج الكتاب الأول من هذه السلسلة مقاومة الحملة الفرنسية والثورة على المماليك والأتراك والإنجليز ومقاومة الشعب المصري لحملة فريزر البريطانية، ويتناول الكتاب الثاني الثورة العرابية في مقاومة التسلط العثماني والتدخلات الأجنبية واستبداد الحكام والنظام، أما الكتاب الثالث ثورة 1919 في مقاومة الشعب المصري للمستعمر البريطاني الذي اعتقد أنه شوه تكوين الفرد المصري ولكنه ثار واستمر في وثورته حتى وفاة الزعيم سعد زغلول.
