يدور موضوع الكتاب حول أساطير العرب قبل الإسلام وعلاقاتها مع الديانات القديمة. ويضم مجموعة من الأساطير الخاصة بالثقافات الدينية التي يعتقد أنها صحيحة وخارقة في ذلك العد، ويركز الضوء حول أهم هذه الشعارات لدى قدماء العراقيين وهو (شعار سومر) الذي يرمز للحياة الخالدة والحكمة والعرفان، ويتكون الشعار من إناء فوار بماء الحياة العذب المقدس الذي يمسك به الإله "أيا" بكلتا يديه، فتارة من حلقه وتارة من أسفله وحلقه معاً. وقد اتخذه قدماء العراقيين شعاراً لهم بتوالي حقبهم التاريخية معبرين عن حضارتهم الخالدة بخلود الإله "أيا".
تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه يكشف للقارىء عن البنى المعرفية التي شكلت حضارات الشعوب في القديم، وخصوصاً المبهم منها في نظرته إلى الإله والقوى الطبيعية وظواهرها التي كان لها مساس مباشر بحياة الناس اليومية والتفسيرات والإعتقادات الخاطئة حول حصول الفيضانات والزلازل والأمطار والحياة والموت والسعادة إلى آخر ذلك من كل ماله مساس بحياة الإنسان من خير وشر.
