هذا الكتاب جليل من كتب الشافعية التي عليها الاعتماد في الفتوى والعمل، وهذا الكتاب تضافر على إخراجه أربعة من كبار أهل العلم، وهم: الأول: الشيخ "إسماعيل المقري اليمني"، الثاني "الشيخ القاضي أبو يحي ذكريا الأنصاري"، الثالث: الشيخ "العلامة شهاب الدين الرملي الكبير". الرابع: الشيخ العلامة "محمد بن أحمد الشوبري"، أما الأول: وهو الشيخ إسماعيل المقري، فقد ألف متناً اسماه "روض الطالب"، اختصره من "روضة الطالبين" للإمام الجليل محي الدين النووي، وقد اقتصر الشيخ إسماعيل في مختصره هذا على الراجح والمعتمد في المذهب الشافعي، ولم يورد الوجوه والطرق والأقوال الضعيفة أو المرجوحة. وأما الثاني، وهو الشيخ إسماعيل الأنصاري، فقد شرح هذا المختصر شرحاً بديعاً متداخلاً مع المتن، وأورد فيه الأدلة التي اعتمد عليها المذهب الشافعي في أحكامه وفروعه، وسمى هذا الشرح "أسنى المطالب شرح المطالب". وأما الثالث: وهو الشيخ شهاب الدين الرملي، فقد حشّى على هذا الشرح حواشي جليلة. وأما الرابع: وهو الشيخ محمد بن احمد الشوبري، فقد جرّد هذه الحواشي من نسخة الشيخ الرملي، مع الإشارة إلى ما صححه "الرملي" أو ضعفه مشيرا "الشوبري" إلى ذلك بقوله: أشار إلى تصحيحه أو أشار إلى تضعيفه. ونظراً لأهمية هذا الكتاب وأهمية موضوعه فقد عني "محمد محمد تامر" بتحقيقه حيث تجلى عمله: أولاً: ضبط نص الكتاب: المختصر والشرح والحواشي، ثانياً: عزو الآيات إلى سورها داخل الشرح، ثالثاً: خرج أحاديث الكتاب كلها، رابعاً: دون ترجمة للأعلام الواردة في النص. خامساً: صدر الكتاب بمقدمة موجزة في اصطلاحات الشافعية.
