كتاب الشَّقَائِقُ النُّعْمَانِيَّة فِي عُلَمَاءِ الدَّوْلَةِ العُثْمَانِيَّة واحد من أهم مصادر التاريخ العثماني في مجال التراجم ، بل يعتبر – حتى الآن - أول كتاب ظهر في هذا الفن لدى العثمانيين ، وصار مؤلفه – طاشكبري زاده – رائدا نسج البقية على منهاجه في التأليف والاهتمام بالتراجم ، فقد لقي الكتاب حفاوة كبيرة من أهل عصره ومن بعدهم، فتوافر الكثيرون على عمل ذيول له ، وترجمته إلى اللغة العثمانية ، واستكمال تراجم العلماء والطبقات التي لم يدركها عمر المؤلف ، والتوسع فيما أجمله واختصره ، فكأنه أوقد شعلة التأليف في فن التراجم العثمانية فأيقظت الكثيرين من المؤرخين ، واهتدى بهديها معظم من جاء بعده من أهل التأريخ ، في أسلوبه ومنهجه وتقسيمه وتبويبه .
وثمة جانب آخر من أهمية الكتاب ، هو أنه يقدم الكثير ملامح الحياة العلمية والثقافية في الدولة العثمانية في تلك الفترة ، وبعضا من ملامح الأوضاع الاجتماعية والإدارية والسياسية أيضا ، ومن جانب آخر يؤكد على مدى أهمية اللغة العربية – التي صُنِّفَ بها أول كتاب تراجم عثمانية – كلغة علم وثقافة ودين في دولة الخلافة الأخيرة .
ونحن بحاجة ماسة إلى المزيد من المصادر العثمانية التي تمدنا بالتفاصيل والمعلومات ، التي تمكننا من تصور صحيح لقضايا هذه الفترة الثرية والمهمة والحرجة من تاريخنا الإسلامي والحديث ، والتي ترتب عليها الكثير من أحوالنا المعاصرة ، وما زالت توابع قضاياها تؤثر في الواقع والمستقبل ، وتطرح نفسها للنقاش والجدل والصراع من حين إلى آخر .
