A Man from No Man’s Land is a collection of ten short stories in which, amazingly, Zainab Al Khudairi penetrates the psyche of Man of Arabia. In a departure from the traditional narrative of most female Arab writers whose fiction is mainly and naturally, concerned with gender issues, love and marriage, the writer here depicts the same themes along some others, e.g. , father-son, ethnic differences, alienation, loneliness, from a male perspective.
In a touching poetic language, philosophical vision, and psychological analysis she dives deep to find answers to bewildering issues. Men of her stories shed light of a deep-rooted cultural legacy, and simultaneously strife to lead a modern life.
Some of them were victims of misinterpretation of the true meaning of religion, while others inherited some biased customs and traditions.
