جملة قضايا يتناولها مؤلف هذا الكتاب الذي سلط الضوء على وحشية الحضارة المادية التي رفع لواءها الغرب المتمرد على القيم والأخلاق، والذي رفع لواء الحرب على السماء. لقد تحول العالم إلى فلسفة مقيتة تقوم على تسليع كل شيء وبناء جزءا رئيسي من الأسواق على كذبة نفسية أو دعاية سوقية، وأضحى العالم يعيش على كذبة كبيرة، في الثقافة والسياسة والاجتماع.
لقد تحول البشر في القرن العشرين ناحية الاستغراق بالذات على قاعدة الانطواء على صوت الغزيرة بكافة أشكالها دون إعطاء أي دور للضابطة العقلية في دورة الوجود. لقد حول الإنسان نظره من أعظم معاني الإعجاز الكوني ليسبح في بحر الظلام المادي. ولقد تحولت الأرض إلى مملكة ضخمة لكن لقلة تعد على الأصابع وهي قلة تصر على قيادة مشاريع قتالية في كل شيء من المال إلى الاقتصاد إلى الدواء، إلى الطب، إلى الاجتماع والإباحية والعسكر.
إن الكاتب يسلط الضوء على حضارة العصر المتوحشة التي لا حولت العالم إلى سوق لا تؤمن إلا بالمال والمنافع الغريزية ومشتقاتها. حيث العالم في هذه الحضارة الانتحارية يقوم على أسس مفادها: ربح الأقلية النادرة، وخسارة الأكثرية العظمى. إن العالم كما يقول الكاتب يمارس السطو والإبادة والإلغاء والقتل بأساليب حضارية وعلى قاعدة الأقوى له الحق في فعل كل شيء.
كما يطرح الكاتب جملة أسئلة تدور حول القيم الضرورية للهوية الكونية ويتساءل أين الهوية الحقوقية التي كتبها الغرب في محافل الدعاية الحقوقية منذ الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان. وأين تطبيقات الديمقراطية المثالية التي جملتها واشنطن منذ القنبلتين الذريتين اللتين ألقتهما على اليابان وصولاً إلى مذابح العراق المذهلة.
أسئلة عديدة يطرحها الكتاب تؤكد مدى الانهيار الخارق للهوية الثقافية التي تحطم آمال البشر وتدفعهم نحو الانفجار والانتحار.
