...الهدف الأسمى لعملنا هو ما حاولنا تحقيقه في القسم الثاني منه، ففيه تركيز مباشر على دراسة بعض الظواهر التي لزمها مبدعون في النظم والنثر يهدف إلى البحث في وظيفة تلك الظواهر في النص ووجوه تجليها وأشكال فعلها وسبل تفاعلها. فنحن نجتهد في هذا القسم من العمل لإثبات أن الظاهرة -مهما كانت- حين تلتزم لا تلحق بالضورة الضيم بالنص الإبداعي، بل تصبح مباشرة إحدى لبنات البناء وطرق الأداء فيه، إن لم تكن أهمها.
تلك هي الأهداف العامة والأساسية التي اتخذناها منطلقاً ورضيناً تحقيقها مراماً عند البدء في البحث، ولم نشك لحظة في أن مسار العمل سيوقفنا على أهداف أخرى كان لنا أن نخمن بعضها، وقد يفاجئنا العديد منها عندما يستدعيه التحليل ويفرضه الدرس والتشريح فتكون خاتمة العمل كفيلة بلفت الانتباه إليه.
وقد وقفت في سبيل سعينا لتحقيق هذه الأهداف صعاب عديدة وعوائق هامة لا بد من تذليلها. منا عسر محاضرة المفهوم بعد قرون من التسيب أحياناً والتحنط والقصر أخرى. فقد استعمل مفهوم اللزوم تارة للدلالة على ظواهر متعددة، وقصر أخرى على ظاهرة واحدة كادت تنفرد به ويقف عندها. ومن شأن ذلك أن يثير مسألة الاصطلاح والاستعمال الإنشائي الحر للأسماء والألفاظ، فليس الوقوف على مصطلح دقيق بالمفهوم العلمي يحاصر الظاهرة فيلم شتاتها ويمنع غيرها من الالتباس بها، أمراً يسيراً.
ولما فتحنا المجال لغير الأدب العربي وولجنا إلى ما أنشئ من النصوص بلغات غير العربية، تعددت أمامنا الوظائف وتولدت من ذلك بعض المصاعب إذ كان عليما الاختيار أولاً والفهم ثانياً والتعريب ثالثاً والإفهام والتقريب رابعاً إلى جانب ضرورة الحرص على تقريب ظواهر مختلفة المنشأ واللسان من أخرى ليس لها نفس السياق. وطرح ذلك أمامنا مرة أخرى مسألة المصطلح وما يستدعيه من بحث عن المقابل المناسب.
