والطارئة وتلك التي رافقت مسيرة الإنسان من لحظة ولادته. في هذا الكتاب –الذي هو حلقة من مشروع الدكتور فالح مهدي الذي بدأه بكتابه الذي نشرته دارنا عام 2015 "نقد العقل الدائري: الخضوع السني والإحباط الشيعي"- يمنحنا المؤلف الفرصة للرحيل في عالم الخوف.
وكما فعل في مؤلفاته السابقة قاد خطانا إلى عصر الصيد وجمع القوت حتى يبدو أن حجم الكتاب صغيرٌ قياسًا بأهمية الموضوع وتشابك مواده. هذا الكتاب رحلة في الأفكار والأيديولوجيات التي رسمت المسيرة الإنسانية عبر الخوف من الموت والخوف من الجحيم، ومن هنا جاءت عملية الإيجاز. هذا البحث يضعنا دون مواربة وجهًا لوجه أمام التساؤلات المتعلقة بجوهر وجودنا.
منذ بداية السبعينيات من القرن الماضي اهتم الدكتور فالح مهدي بالشأن الديني فأنجز كتابه الأول "البحث عن منقذ" عام 1972. لم يُعِقْهُ التدريس في جامعة فرساي الفرنسية عن متابعة نشاطه، فصدر له باللغة الفرنسية عام 1991 "أسس وآليات الدولة في الإسلام: النموذج العراقي"، إضافة إلى مجموعة من الدراسات التي تتعلق بأنثروبولوجيا القانون. باللغة العربية.
صدر له عام 2010 "صلوات الإنسان: من سومر إلى الإسلام"، و"البحث عن جذور الإله الواحد: نقد الأيديولوجية الدينية"، و"مقالة في السفالة: نقد الحاضر العراقي". في المجال الأدبي صدرت له عام 2012 روايته "صلوات الدم"، وعن دارنا روايته "أصدقائي الكلاب" عام 2016. كما صدر له باللغة الفرنسية بعض الروايات والقصص
