رواية تعتمد معطيات التاريخ لتقدمها بطريقة تضفى عليها الحيوية. لذلك كان من الطبيعى أن يرد فيها جانب من وحى الخيال. ووردت مطابقة فى معظمها للمصادر و فى جزء منها مخالفة لها. وتتمثل هذه المخالفة الموجودة بين الرواية و معطيات التاريخ فى طريقة تقديم مجريات حياة ابن خلدون، و فى انتقاء عناصر منها دون أخرى لتأليف الرواية. وقد أشرنا أحيانا إلى نقاط الاختلاف وأهملنا ذكرها أحيانا أخرى، إذ ليس همّنا هنا هو تصحيح ما ورد فى الرواية. ويبقى فى وسع القارئ، إن شاء، أن يقوم بذلك بالرجوع إلى كتاب التعريف بابن خلدون ورحلته غربا وشرقا وتاريخ ابن خلدون والإحاطة فى أخبار غرناطة للسان الدين ابن الخطيب ونفح الطيب من غصن الأندلس الرطيب للمقرى التلمسانى.
