هذه الرواية على قصرها وقلة عدد صفحاتها؛ حافلة بالأحداث، ومليئة بالشخصيات، ومفعمة بالأفكار ذات الطابع الفلسفى، وذلك فى إطار شائق يكتسى طابع البحث والتحرى؛ الأمر الذى يجعل القارئ لا يصيبه الملل الذى يلازم الأفكار المجردة، بل نجدها مبثوثة فى نسيج النص الروائى، ومشتبكة به دون أن يُنظر إليها باعتبارها جسمًا غريبًا، أو عضوًا زائدًا. إن النظرة السطحية للرواية التى لا تأخذ فى الاعتبار بعدها الفلسفى، سوف ترى الرواية باعتبارها قصة بوليسة، تبحث فيها الشخصية الرئيسية: يونس فردوس، الباحث الاجتماعى، عن سبب انتحار العالم والفيزيائى الأكاديمى: محسن بارسا. إن استخدام الروائى لأسلوب التحقيق البوليسى ليكون غطاءً ووسيلة يطرح عبرها الأفكار الفلسفية العميقة عن الوجود والحياة والموت، يشى بمقدرة سردية فذة، وامتلاك كامل لتقنيات الفن الروائى، وذلك لتمكنه من صياغة منسجمة تجمع مابين كلا المستويين: الظاهرى/ الحكائى، والباطنى/ الفلسفى، دون أن يتغلب أحدهما على الأخر، خاصة الجانب الفلسفى؛ لما فى تسيده من إغراء بالخروج على مقتضيات النوع السردى الروائى.
