اهتمت هذه الدراسة ببحث الجانب الإجتماعي لقريك الكرنك ي قصص الكاتب الراحل يحيي الطاهر عبد الله، الذي يعد أفضل ممثل لأدب افقليم أي : ادب القرية المصرية خلال فترة 1960-1970 عرض في قصصه بيئة خيالية ولكنها واقعية كما عاشها هو وأنجز خلالها دراسات شخصية حول بسطاء أهل القرية، لكي يشير بوجوده علاقة تتوسط بين واقع حياة القرية آنذاك وانتشار الأمية والفقر والمرض وسيطرة اعتقاد بالخرافة من خلال عاد عادات وتقاليد متوارثة مقابل تقدم صناعي وتغيير جماعي في السلوك مثل الأخذ بالثأر والتفاوت الإجتماعي والسلوك الشخصي اليومي وصراع القيم فركز في كتابته على موطن ولادته وخاصة فيما يتعلق بصغائر مشاهد الحياة اليومية في القرية والمواجهة مع متغيرات تركيب نظام قروي خلال تأثيرات أوروبية، نشأت بسببها مشاكل أنتجت توتراً بين التقاليد والتحديث القادم عن طريق مدينة القاهرة تدريجياً.
