تبدو رواية "موت وردة" لـ "محمد صالح البحر"، رواية جاذبة محتشدة بالغموض الفني، الذي سيسعى القارئ إلى تفكيكه بمجرد أن يبدأ القراءة التي لن تتوقف فوردة الحلم، الأمل، ضاعت فجأة، وآدم الغريب القادم من النهر، صائد الحياة والأمل، يتأرجح في حزنه وبؤسه، وحياة الأم، وهبت الحياة وألغتها، والعجوز مفتاح الحكمة في رأس الجبل، أسطورة كبرى، وبين كل هذا وذاك يربض النهر الأسطوري ممتلئا بالأسرار والحكايات، بعضها معروف وبعضها لن يعرفه أحد على الإطلاق. تبدو الرواية في مجملها، حلمًا كبيرًا، لكنه حلم أشبه بالكابوس، وقد تمدد على جميع صفحاتها، ما إن تخرج من فقرة كابوسية، تلج أخرى أشد وطأة، وقد استخدم محمد صالح البحر، لغة تليق بذلك الحلم، رقراقة حينا، وعنيفة حينا آخر، لكنها متشابكة، تضفر الفقرات كلها، وتلحمها في ذلك النسيج البديع، وقد لجأ إلى تقنية تعدد الرواة، كل يروي حياته، ودوره في الحلم، من دون انتقاص من أدوار الآخرين، لتخرج الرواية بديعة ومتماسكة. كأني به أراد أن يصف حلم المقهورين، كيف يبدأ وكيف ينتهي؟، أراد أن يمسك بالأمل وتأرجحاته في كل وقت.
