تنتشر ظاهرة العنف والعدوان في المجتمعات, وهو داء لم يستثن بلداً أو إقليماً أو قارة, ونسمع في كل ساعة وكل يوم من خلال وسائل الإعلام حوادث العنف, وتشير بعض أصابع الأتهام إلي أن العنف يتم إرضاعه منذ الصغر, بل إن أصابع أخري تشير إلي المدارس بأعتبارها الثدي الذي يتغذي منه الصغار بالعنف والعدوانية..
..و العنف والعدوان قد يكون علي مستوي لفظي مثل الشتائم والتهكم والسخرية والتهديد وإطلاق الشائعات, أو يكون دفاعياً وقد يكون هجومياً, وقد يكون داخلياً نحو الذات ولكن معظمه موجه خارجياً وقد يكون مستمراً أو في مناسبات, وقد يكون محدوداً وقد يأخذ شكلاً جماعياً مثل الشغب والتخريب, وقد يأخذ شكلاً دينياً مثل التعصب والتطرف وقد يأخذ شكلاً سياسياً مثل الإخلال بالنظام والإرهاب.
ويتناول هذا الإصدار مشكلة العنف والعدوان كمشكلة هامة وخطيرة في حياة الفرد قد تدفعه إلي تدمير نفسه وكل من حوله.. ويتضمن معني العدوان والعنف, والأسباب التي تؤدي إليهما, والتفسير النفسي لهما, ووجهة النظر الدينية, وأيضاً التعرف علي أساليب الوقاية وطرق العلاج.. وذلك إلي جانب معرفة تأثير التليفزيون ووسائل الإعلام علي زيادة العنف والعدوان لدي الصغار والشباب.. إلي جانب عرض مختصر للعدوان وبعض المفاهيم ذات الصلة به (الإرهاب, التطرف, الجريمة).
