وقد جاء هذا الكتاب في قسمين تتبع القسم الاول اتجاهات الباحثين الغربيين الحديثة والمعاصرة في درس التصوف الإسلامي: مصادره وآثاره ، دراسة تحليلية نقدية.
أما القسم الثاني من هذا الكتاب فقد شغلته ترجمتنا لدراسة المستشرق بعنوان : "اتجاهات غربية معاصرة في دراسةا لتصوف الاسلامي". وقد قدمنا لهذه الدراسة بمقدمة ضاية وعلقنا عليها تعليقات مطولة.
