على الرغم من الموضوعات الكثيرة التي اشتغلت عليها الرواية العراقية منذ بداياتها في الربيع الأول من القرن العشرين، والتحوّل الذي طرأ عليها بعد العام 2003، غير أن هناك مناطق لم يقربها روائيون سعوا للتجريب بموضوعات وتقنيات عدّة.
هذا التجريب هو ما دفع سعد سعيد لكتابة روايته (فيرجوالية) في العام 2012، فهي لا تخضع لأي من أشكال الرواية المتعارف عليها حتى ذلك الوقت، بل كانت تشكل بالنسبة له تحدّياً، حتّى عدّها بعض النقّاد بداية للرواية الإفتراضية التي ستنتشر في يومٍ ما لا سيما بعد إجتياح عالم الإنترنيت الإفتراضي لواقع العالم؛ في حين لم يلتفت إليها آخرون لأنها لم تنسق مع ذائقته الخاضعة لمعايير الرواية التي تعوّد على قراءتها.
وبعد مضي سنوات على صدور (فيرجوالية) يعود سعيد مرّة أخرى متحديّاً في عملٍ جديد (آيو)، عاداً إياه رواية قائمة بذاتها، وفي الوقت نفسه جزءاً ثانياً للعمل الأول، وربّما تتسع الفكرة لعمل ثالث، من المحتمل أن يرى النور قريباً.
ففي هذه الرواية تختلف المعالجة قليلاً، إلا أن سعيداً يحافظ بأمانة على الروح التي حرص على تقديمها هناك، (آيو) عمل يجمع بين العوالم الإفتراضية، وحياتنا التي نقضيها في وسائل التواصل الإجتماعي، الحياة التي لا تخلو من المفاجآت إن كانت في الواقع أم في حقول التوهّم الواسعة.
