لم يخطئ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حينما قال "اليمن يمانِ، والحكمة يمنية" فمن يقرأ تاريخ اليمن يعرف أنه بلد صاحب حضارة، فهو إلى الآن البلد الذي يمارس العملية الديمقراطية في شبه الجزيرة العربية، والكتابة عن اليمن السعيد هي ما يقوم بفعله "خضر نور الدين" في هذا العمل متناولاً تاريخه بين "مملكة سبأ وعاصفة الحزم العربي"، فالماضي والحاضر لا ينفصلان ومن لا تاريخ له، لا حاضر له، هذا البلد العريق نقرأه بعيون واحد من أبنائه الذي عرَف شعبه بأنه "الشعب الذي لا يعرف الإنهزام".
وهكذا إنطلاقاً من الأحداث الجارية في اليمن وبدء عاصفة الحزم العربية، يتابع المؤلف في هذا الكتاب دور اليمن في المنظومة العربية والدولية، ويسلط الضوء على التاريخ والجغرافيا، ويقدم بعض المعلومات عن تكويناته الأساسية "البنى المجتمعية"، والنظام السياسي، والأحزاب الموجودة وخصوصاً الفاعلة، بالإضافة إلى الشخصيات المؤثرة على الساحة السياسية، ورأي حول الأحداث والدول المستفيدة سلباً أو إيجاباً وإن كانت لا تظهر في الصورة.
وأخيراً يخلص المؤلف إلى القول: "إن هكذا شعب لا يقبل الهزيمة، وإن كان يعيش ظروفاً صعبة فهو يُقاتل بشراسة للحفاظ على كرامته... وأن اليمن الذي بدأ سعيداً، سيعود ليكون سعيداً، بأهله الغيارى، والأشاوس...".
