تهدف الدراسة للتعرف على دور وسائل الإعلام الجديد وخاصة وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي في مشاركة الشباب السياسية والمجتمعية، وبيان دور التنشئة السياسية في ترسيخ القيم السياسية لدى الشباب وخاصة طلبة الجامعات، كما تهدف الدراسة إلى الكشف عن حجم واستخدام الإنترنت كوسيط اتصالي جديد بين الشباب الجامعي المصري، ودراسة تأثير استخدام الــــــــ facebook على اتجاهات الشباب نحو قضايا المشاركة السياسية للمجتمع المصري، والتعرف على أكثر المواقع أولوية لدى الطالب المصري، التعرف على عدد الساعات التي يقضيها الطالب على مواقع التواصل يوميا، وتحديد نسبة المشاركة السياسية والانضمام للاحزاب السياسية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني، وأهمية التثقيف السياسي للشباب ، والوعي بأهمية ومعرفة المصطلحات السياسية.
وتجيب الدراسة على التساؤل
إلى أي مدى تؤثر وسائل الإعلام الجديدة على الوعي السياسي والاجتماعي للشباب؟
