كان السيد محمد سعيد الحبوبي عبقري التوحيد الإسلامي بتعبير السيد جمال الدين الأفغاني ، وقد مزج الوطن بالإيمان ، وصارت تلك الثقافة الجهادية حصيلة العرفان الشيعي الناقد والثوري ، حيث كان يقول : " من لا وطن له ولا دين له " ، كيف لا وهو يسمع قول أمير المؤمين عليه السلام : " عُمرت البلدان بحب الأوطان " . فهذا الإيمان بالوطن اشتبك مع حب الله تعالى ليتمثل في صورة الرجل المجاهد النبيل صاحب الفضائل ، وليخبرنا عنه .
في هذا الكتاب - أحد طلبة الحوزة العلمية في النجف الأشرف ، من دون أن يذكر إسمه فقدم إلينا كتاباً من حياة ومسيرة " العرفان عند السيد محمد سعيد الحبوبي " مع التركيز على شرح موجز للحالات العرفانية وموقعيتها وبيان حقائق ومرادات السيد الحبوبي في بعض أشعاره العرفانية ، حيث تلوّن شعره بلون التوحيد :
روحيّ في روحك ممزوجة / حتى كأني منك في وحدة ، أصبحت من حبك في جنة / وربّما تمزج روحانِ ، لو صحّ أن يتّحد إثنان / تبهج في حور وولدانِ .
وفي الكتاب أيضاً ، تذييل مختصر في معنى العرفان والعارف بالله ، وتعريف للعرفان الشيعي وعلاقته بالزاهد والعابد ، ومقولات حوله ، وحول العلم كما جاء في كتب أهل البيت عليهم السلام المستمدة من قول أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام " العلم علمان مطبوع ومسموع ، ولا ينفع المسموع إذا لم يكن المطبوع " .
