هذا الكتاب دليل لمستخدم التفكيكية من خلال تنويعة من الموضوعات والمقالات. فيضم مقالات عن الدراسة الثقافية والمخدرات والأخلاق والحركة النسائية والقصص والسينما والتأويل والحب والشعر وما بعد الإستعمارية والتحليل النفسي والتقنية والنسيج. إلا أن كلا من هذه المقالات له أكثر من بؤرة تركيز ويستكشف تفكيكات أخري. فالفصل المتعلق بالحركة النسائية مثلا يتعلق بالفنون البصرية أيضا، والفصل الخاص بالقصص يتناول الإعتراف، والفصل الذي يتناول ما بعد الاستعماري يتحدث عن "الجذور" اليهودية - الجزائرية - الفرنسية للتفكيكية. يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة بعنوان "ما التفكيكية؟" قبل أن ينتقل إلي سلسلة من مقالات أكثر تحديدا كتب كل منها خصيصا لهذا الكتاب. واقترح في بداية هذا المشروع أن يكون لكل مقال عنوان بصيغة "التفكيكة و ... "ويتعلق المقال الاخير لجاك ديريدا بحرف العطف"و" نفسه. ويشير في مستهل مقاله إلي أنه "في البدء كانت واو العطف". وباعتبارها افتتاحية وتكميلية فهي تؤكد علي بداية التفكيكيات.
