يتكون هذا الكتاب من سبعة فصول نظرية عن مياه الري في المملكة العربية السعودية وخواص الماء وتلوث المياه ومشكلة الملوحة والنفاذية في الترب المروية واتخدامات المياه، وكذلك يحتوي الكتاب على فصلين عن الطرق المعملية لتقدير مكونات الماء، حيث اشتملت على جميع العينات وطرق التحليل، ولقد روعي أن يختتم كل فصل ببعض الأسئلة كما عرضت كثير من الأمثلة والأشكال ضمن الكتاب. ولقد روعي كذلك في الكتاب الإستفادة من الخبرة الطويلة في مجال نوعية المياه بالتدريس والأبحاث التي قمنا بها خلال أكثر من خمسة وعشرين عاماً.
