Book Description
يعمل "سام" نجاراً ويعيش متجولاً مثل الغجر بعد وفاة أمه وهو لا يعرف من هو أبوه. يحط به الرحال في مدينة صغيرة كان يتوق إلى الذهاب إليها بناء على وصية أمه والتي تعيش فيها جدته. ولكنه يفاجأ بأن الجدة توفيت من عامين وأن المنزل سيعرض للبيع بالمزاد العلني لسداد الديون الضريبية.
لم تكن لدى "سام" أي رغبة في الإقامة المستقرة في تلك البلدة ولا تملك المنزل الموروث له. ولكنه يضطر إلى اقتحامه بعد أن سدته السلطات بألواح خشبية. تبلغ إحدى الجارات الشرطة عن ذلك المتشرد المقتحم وتأتي الضابطة "أندريا" التي تقوم بعمل مدير الشرطة بدلاً من والدها-المصاب في حادثة سيارة-لتحقيق البلاغ. ويحدث موقف غريب ومثير للضحك بين الشرطية والمتشرد ثم تقوم علاقة حميمة بينهما، ولكن الضابطة لا تريد الاستجابة لعاطفة الحب؛ لأن "سام" يعيش عيشة الرحل ولا يمكن أن يستقر في بلدة واحدة وتتطور الأحداث المثيرة إلى مفاجأة.
