ينظر إلى الإستيعاب الإستماعي في تعليم اللغة الثانية بوصفه معتمداً كلياً على حاسة السمع بإستخدام المعلومات المرئية كأداة مساعدة للمعلومات الشفوية، وليس كجزء مكمل لها.
إضافة لهذا، توجد نظريتان تتعلقان بالبصر وعلاقاته بالمعلومات السمعية في إدراك الكلام: إما أن يكون البصر جهازاً مسانداً يستخدم عندما تتدهور الإشارات السمعية بشكل ما، وإما أن يكون البصر جزءاً مركزياً في إدراك الكلام تحت أي ظرف كان.
والقرآن الكريم عندما يحصي نعم الله عزّ وجلّ على البسر يستعرض دوماً حاسة السمع في حاسة البصر وفقاً لهذا الترتيب عندما يذكران معاً؛ علاوة على ذلك، منح القرآن الكريم هاتين الحاستين أفضلية على ما عداهما من حواس، والسؤال الذي يطرح نفسه هنا لماذا ميّزهما القرآن الكريم على ما عداهما من حواس؟…
إننا نبذل في بحثنا هذا محاولة لكشف الغطاء عن المضامين النظرية والعملية لتمثيل القرآن الكريم لحاستي السمع والبصر لإكتساب اللغة الثانية وتعليمها.
