فهناك كثير من المتفوقين والموهوبين والمبدعين يصادفون صعوبات شديدة في معالجة مواقف الحياة، إذ أن النضج الاجتماعي والوجداني ليسا تابعين بالضرورة للتفوق والموهبة، فبالرغم من أن ذكاء المتفوقين يزودهم ببصيرة تساعدهم في حل المشاكل، إلا أنه غالبًا ما يكون مصدرًا لحساسية تضطرهم لمواجهة مشاكل لا يواجهها الطفل العادي.
