يشكل مقرر "5462" إحصاء رياضي" واحداً من المقررات المطلوبة للحصول على درجة بكالوريوس علوم في التربية تخصص رياضيات، وتتطلب دراسة هذا المقرر دراسة مقرر "5364 إحتمالات" الذي تتعرض فيه على أسس نظرية الإحتمالات والتوزيعات الإحتمالية والنظريات المتعلقة بالتوقع الإحصائي والعزوم وكذلك إقتران كثافة الإحتمال للمتغيرات الأساسية الشائعة ونظريات التقارب الإحتمالي.
والآن تأتي هذه الدراسة لهذا المقرر إستكمالاً للدراسة السابقة، إذ يعالج هذا المقرر الإستدلال الإحصائي حول معالم التوزيعات الإحتمالية، حيث يعطي معالجة رياضية لبعض أساليب وطرق الإستدلال الإحصائي والتي تعتبر كأساس لمقرر آخر وهو "5263 إحصاء تطبيقي"، ففي حين نتعرف في هذا المقرر على المعالجة الرياضية للقوانين والمبادئ الإحصائية الهامة التي تستخدم في الحياة اليومية سوف يتم تطبيق هذه الأسس والمبادئ على تمارين وحالات عملية في مقرر "5263 إحصاء تطبيقي" دون النظر إلى كيفية إشتقاق القوانين المستخدمة، ولذلك فإن هذان المقرران يشكلان معاً أساساً لفهم فلسفة وتطبيق الطرق الإحصائية الهامة.
ويتناول هذا المقرر الموضوعات الرئيسية التالية: التقدير بنقطة، وأنواع وخواص التقديرات الجيدة، والطرق المختلفة للتقدير وتشمل تقدير الأرجحية العظمى والتقدير بطريقة العزوم وتقدير بيز، ثم التقدير بفترة ثقة، والطرق المختلفة لإيجاد التقدير بفترة ثقة، وكذلك إختبار الفرضيات ونظرية نيمان بيرسون لإيجاد إختبارات لفرضيات مختلفة مثل الإختبارات المنتظمة والغير متحيزة الأكثر فاعلية ثم إختبارات نسبة الأرجحية وتطبيقات عليها، وبعد ذلك الإحصاء الكافي والكامل والإحصاء الفعال وطرق إيجادها وإستخدامها في إيجاد المقدر الفعال.
