إن حياة الأمم مرهونة بحياة تراث أبنائها، والأمة التي لا تراث لها، لا حياة ولا تاريخ لها. إنما هي كتل بشرية لا وزن لها في ميزان الأمم؛ ولكن لماذا ندرس التراث لأن التراث يحمل بصورة ضمنية أو صريحة، القضايا التي نصادفها في الإنتاج الفكري والفلسفي المعاصر، سواء كان إسلاميا أو إنسانيا. نحفر في التراث ونفكك أجزاءه ، لنعيد تركيبها بصورة جديدة تبعث فينا أمل وحلم التواصل مع من سبقونا. وإني لأتمثل أمامي العاشق الولهان بالتراث العربي الإسلامي، ورائد شيوخ التحقيق في هذا العصر: عبد السلام هارون-رحمه الله- ينادي قائلا:« هذا التراث الضخم الذي آل إلينا من أسلافنا صانعي الثقافة العربية الإسلامية، جدير أن نقف أمامه وقفة إجلال وإكبار، ثم نسموا برؤوسنا باعتزاز وشموخ صادق بالفخر والغبطة.»
