في روايته "طيور السعد" ينقّب عبد العزيز ايت بنصالح في سِفر تاريخ بلاده لكي يعيد الإعتبار لمستقبلها، ولا سيما في خضمّ هذا البحر الهائج من التحولات التي يشهدها العصر.
فبدأ الحديث عن المنسي الذي طُمر في ثنايا ذاكرة المقاربة، عائداً إلى مراكش في العقد الأخير من القرن السادس عشر الميلادي، متخذاً من سلطان ذلك العصر (المنصور) وقصره البديع، وبعضٌ من المريدين والفقهاء والقضاية والأئمة، شخصيات، تكشف عن العلاقة بين السلاطين والرعية، وبين الرعية ورجال الدين، وعن تشويه التاريخ على يد الإخباريين في جُلِّ الكتابات، ومرور بعضهم مرور الكرام على الأحداث.
كما يعرج الروائي على المذهب الصوفي وحضوره بقوة بين الناس آنذاك، وسيل من الأفكار التي تعكس البنى الذهنية التي حكمت ذلك العر، وكأنه أراد توجيه رسالة إلى المقاربة. ".... من أجل ذلك؛ كان وجدان المقاربة في مغرب القرن السادس عشر للميلاد قاب قوسين من أن يلتحم، فأين وجدانهم اليوم من الإلتحام؟ لعله في الوسط والإعتدال".
في الخطاب الروائي يستخدم عبد العزيز ايت بنصالح تقنية الراوي العليم، وهي تقنية تتناسب مع تاريخ له روايته الخاصة به (بلاد المغرب)، وراوية الرسمي، وتأتي لغة الكناية والتلميح في مقاربة العصر (القرن السادس عشر) ضرورية لما كان وما سيكون (القرن الحادي والعشرون) غير أن الكاتب يُثقلها بمحمولات بلاغية وإنشائية تستلزم قارئاً متمعناً للتاريخ، مدركاً لقواعد اللغة، بإعتبار أنها لغة عالية المستوى والأداء، ما يعني بالنهاية ثقافة جامعة وعميقة لمن يكتب، فاستحقت الرواية القراءة.
