تحدث العندليب وهو يجتر نزيفه المتكرر... تحدث حليم عن أختلاط ميلاده بالموت... من حضروا ميلاده قالوا أن بكاءه كان غزيراً وصارخاً - علي عكس الصبية - كان لبكاءه مضمون وعمق يريد أن يوصلها إلي الحاضرين... فهو جاء إلي الدنيا بدون حضن يرتمي إليه, ولا صدر يرتشف منه غذاءه... فقد ماتت أمه ثم أبوه, كان يستمد غذائه من "معزة", ثم رضعه فقيرة عبر "زجاجة كازوزة" وعلي حافتها حلمة مطاطية أصطناعية.
دموعي تسبقني وأنا أسجل مولدك يا عندليب... في طفولته كان محروماً من الهرولة في غيطان قريته "الحلوات بالزقازيق", فقد كان محبوساً في دار الأيتام, وإذا خرج فهو الأضعف بين رفاقه, لا يستطيع أن يجاريهم في اللعب والمجهود... عندها حق الداية "أم عبده" عندما أخرجت هذا المخلوق الموعود بالعذاب والحب والشهرة والنجومية غير المسبوقة, ثم أنتبذت لنفسها مكاناً في حجرة وراحت تبكي بكاء حاراً مريراً... أي مولد وأي طفل أنت يا عندليب؟ مرارة الدنيا حولتها لنا شهداً وعسلاً مصفي... حرمانك تحول في حنجرتك إلي أمل وطاقة حب تنير بها طريق المكلومين, كل هذا جعل منك فتا هشاً, رقيقاً, عذاباً, حنوناً.. موهوباً.. حتي صدقك الناس.
