لا يقتصر الكتاب على حديث الذكريات بل يمتلىء بالشعر والأدب والحياة، لإنسان كبير عاش وعايش الحق ودعا إليه، وتنقل في بقاع الأرض، حاملاً لواء الحرية والتحرر، مثقلاً بهموم شعبه، وأماني أمته طوال نصف قرن ونيف، فكان هذا الكتاب هدية الزوجة لزوجها، وهدية الأصدقاء لرفيق الدرب، في ذكرى غيابه، ونصوص وأشعار ملأت حياته حباً وأملاً عندما قالها. كما ضم الكتاب مقالات أدبية ولقاءات صحفية مع الشاعر وزوجته ... وأجمل ما فيها بعض الأبيات من رسالة عمر أبي ريشة الأخيرة إلى سعاد يقول فيها:
"سعاد سعاد إسمعي صرختي / فإني أريدك أن تسمعي ، بأني هنا من وراء البحار / أشدّ على جرحي الموجع ، وطيفك يغرق في أدمعي / وحبك يخفق في أضلعي (...)".
