هو "قصة مصر والمصريين" الذين ساءهم أن يتخلى عنهم خديويهم وهم يحاربون الإنجليز وينضم إلى معسكر العدو، فالتفوا حول زعيمهم "عرابي" الذي حارب أعداء الوطن، فلما أدرك هذا الزعيم أنه لن يكون كسب الحرب من نصيبه آثر أن يسلم نفسه هو وزملاؤه الستة في 14 سبتمبر1882 لقائد جيش الاحتلال الجنرال "لو" حقنا لدماء أبناء الوطن.
ويرجع فضل ترجمة الكتاب إلى قرار اتخذته جمهورية سرى لانكا عام 1983 بتحويل أول بيت نزل به عرابي في مدينة كولومبو إلى متحف تخليداً لذكراه، ووجهت الدعوة إلى الحكومة المصرية لحضور حفل الافتتاح، وسافر الوفد برئاسة وزير الثقافة السابق الأستاذ محمد عبد الحميد رضوان.
والكتاب مرجع تاريخي وثائقي يفيد المؤرخين والباحثين الذين كانوا يترقبون ترجمته منذ وقت طويل.
