قد جاءت هذه الدراسة في مقدمة وخمسة فصول وخاتمة، فتحدثت في الفصل الأول حول المفهوم العام لمدونات الرحالة المغاربة والأندلسيين، وتنوع المقاصد والغايات، وتناولت الإمتداد في الأزمنة والأمكنة للرحلات.
أما الفصل الثاني فقد ناقشت فيه ثنائية الأمكنة المتضادة، كون المكان دعامة أساسية لكل تصور إنساني، وتناولت فيه أمكنة البر والبحر وأمكنة الأنا والآخر، حيث كانت الرحلة الأندلسية والمغربية في مواجهة بين الذات والآخر، وإكتشاف آفاق الآخر، والتكيف مع قيمها، ورسم ملامح صورتها، كما ناقشت في هذا الفصل التضاد بين أمكنة المقدس والمدنس، وأمكنة الواقعي والمتخيل.
وفي الفصل الثالث كتبت عن الأمكنة المتداخلة، وطرق تناول المكان التي كانت تختلف من رحالة إلى آخر من حيث الرغبة العلمية والحس الجمالي، ثم أمكنة الإنطلاق وأمكنة العبور الجاذبة والطاردة، ثم أمكنة الوصول حيث المكان المستهدف من الرحلة.
أما أصداء الأمكنة والأزمنة فكان في الفصل الرابع، حيث تناولت فيه أمكنة التسامح في مدونات الرحالة وأمكنة حوار الأزمنة سواء أكانت تاريخية أو دينية، وقد خصصت الفصل الخامس لأدبية وصف الأمكنة، بينت فيه الإسترجاع الداخلي والخارجي، وذكرت بعض وظائفه.
أما الخاتمة فقد تضمنت أبرز النتائج التي توصلت إليها الدراسة، وقد أفادت الدراسة من عدد من الدراسات الحديثة التي تناولت الرحلة عند العرب وفي مقدمتها "الرحلة في الأدب العربي" لشعيب حليفي، وكتاب "رحالة الغرب الإسلامي" لنواف عبد العزيز الجحمة، وكتاب "أدب الرحلات الأندلسية والمغربية" لنوال الشوابكة.
