العرب هم أقدم من مارس الطب، وأعرف الناس بالعقاقير الطبية الشافية، وكان لهم في مضماره سبق أي سبق، فإذا ما قمنا بتعريب الطب، ونقل مصطلحاته ومخترعاته ومستحدثاته المتطورة إلى اللغة العربية، فإنما نكون قد أعدنا للأيام سيرتها الأولى وأعدنا للعربية خالي أمجادها وسالف عزها الأصيل الذي أسسه علماؤها ورجالها منذ القدم.
فلقد بلغ الطب عند العرب شأواً بعيداً، وقد كان طباً بسيطاً لكنه نافع يقوم على المجريات، وهو متوافق مع ما يستحدثه المعاصرون من أساليب متنوعة في فروعه المختلفة، إنما يتلاقيان الأصول، وقد نهلت أوربا من هذا المورد السخي العذب، وارتوت من هذا الفرات السائغ ردحاً من الزمان أقالها من عثرتها وبدد عنها ظلمات القرون الوسطى.
وقد طرحت جميع تعريب العلوم في مؤامرات التعريب في الرباط والجزائر وطرابلس وبغداد، ونظمت الندوات العلمية في هذا الموضوع الحيوي في مجامع اللغة العربية وفي الجامعات.
وعلى ذلك فإن مشكلة هذا البحث تبرز في محاولة تعرف أهمية تعريب العلوم وخاصة الطب، والإسراع بذلك ما استطعنا إليه سبيلاً، وما المعوقات التي تواجهه وسبل التغلب عليها.
