فقلتُ في نفسي جئت لأتعرف إلى قصة الرجل فأزداد شوقًا لمعرفة قصة الشيخ الصافع أيضًا.. فوضع سي نجيب يدهُ على كتفي؛ يبدو أنه سمعني وقال :
إنها قصة واحدة ..قصة واحدة.. فقلت : هلَّا قصصتها عليَّ ..؟
فقال : قد يطول بنا المجلس. فقلت : ذلك ما ينقص متعة الحياة .. أن تطول.
فرجع سي نجيب بكُرسيه إلى الخلف قليلًا، وأسند رأسهُ إلى الكرسي و ظل ينظر إلى السماء قائلًا: قصتي يا ولدي كقصة طفل صغير استيقظ من نومه فلم يجد أمَّه بجانبه، فظن بفكرهِ البسيط أنها ضاعت، فخرج يبحث عنها بين الشوارع والأزقة، والدموع تملأ عينيه حتى إذا يئس من البحث اكتشف أنه لا يستطيع الرجوع إلى البيت بمفرده، فزاد حُزنه وجلس يبكي ويلوم نفسه حتى سمع صوت أمه وهي تجري وتصيح بحثا عنه..فأصبح الباحث مبحوثًا عنه، والمبحوث عنه باحثًا..
