يحتوى هذا الكتاب المجموعة الثانية من "كُنّاشتي"، جهدتُ فيها أن أنتقي من درر ولآلئ العلم والمعرفة، والعلمُ لمن سبره كبحرٍ لجيِّ عظيم، يُناشدك مَن فيه أن تدوّنه وتقيّده ولا تتركه هملاً، خشية أن تأكله الأَرَضَة ويصبح على مرِّ الدهر نسياً منسيّاً، وقد قال سيد ولد آدم صلى الله عليه وسلم: "قيِّدوا العلم بالكتاب"، ومن باب حفظ العلم أتى هذا الكُنّاش.
"الكُنّاش" - ويُؤَنّث أحياناً فيُقال: "الكُنّاشة" - لفظ ذاع في شمال أفريقيا بخاصة للتعبير عن مجموعة من كتابات عالم أو أستاذ، أكثر ما تكون خليطاً من الأفكار والأقوال والملخصات والذكريات والفوائد العلمية، إلى آخر ما يمكن أن يسجّله صاحبه، ويبدو هذا - في مجمله - مزيجاً من الكتابة وتسجيل الخواطر والشواهد على نسقٍ غير علميٍّ، فهو بهذا عبارة عن "كشكول" منوّع غير متجانس في الغالب الأعم.
وختاماً، أحثُّ طلاب العلم على تدوين كُنّاشة خاصة بهم، فكم من فوائد ودرر يمر بها طالب العلم أثناء قراءاته ويندم لاحقاً على عدم تدوينها، وقال الإمام الشعبي: "إذا سمعت شيئاً (أي: من الفوائد) فاكتبْه ولو في الحائط".
