في هذا العمل يشرح الشيخ علي بن محمد التميمي (الصفاقسي)، كتاب "جوهرة الإسلام"، للإمام ابراهيم اللقاني، وهي بمضمونها تتضمن مقررات العقيدة الاسلامية وتحيط بما يجب على المسلم معرفته من قواعد العقيدة الإسلامية التي تحدد انتماءه للإسلام، وتسلحه بما يحفظ عقيدته من التزلزل والتشكيك، ومن ثم تصحيح عبادته والتزاماته لأحكام الشريعة. وقد صاغها المؤلف على شكل نظم، تيسر على المبتدئين حفظ أصول العلوم وقواعده. وكذلك فإن ما كتب على هذا النظم من شروح، تساعد الدارسين على التوسع واستيضاح ما طوى فيه من معان، ترسخ العقيدة بشكل صحيح وذلك على منهج أهل السنة منذ تأسيسه على الإمام "أبي الحسن الأشعري" الذي سعى الى نصرة عقائد أهل السنة بالأدلة العقلية.
وقطع حجج المخالفين والمشككين فيها. وبذلك رأى المسلمون في منهجه "... امتداداً لمنهج سلف الأمة من الصحابة والتابعين وتابعيهم، من حيث الانتصار لما جاء به القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية الشريفة من العقائد والاحتجاج لها وذلك بزيادة تأييدها بالبراهين العقلية...".
