هذا الكتاب بعنوان "الثقافة البصرية والتعلم البصري" ثم نشره بواسطة اثنان من المحررين، واشترك في تأليفه أكثر من ثلاث وعشرون كاتباً شارك كل منهم بفصل أو بالاشتراك مع أخر، وهذا هو الجزء الأول من الكتاب الذي شارك فيه خمسة عشر مؤلفاً، وأعد هذا الجزء إثنان من المحررين، وكل هؤلاء المؤلفون هم أعضاء في الجمعية الدولية للثقافة البصرية، وقد ترجمت هذ الكتاب فيما يزيد عن أربع سنوات متتالية من الإعداد والتقيح، وتمت كتابته ومراجعته عدة مرات، وتم إعداد كل الرسوم والصور (وترجمتها وتحويلها للغة العربية) والتي بلغ عددها في هذا الجزء (92) صورة ورسم بواسطة المترجم وعن طريق برامج إعداد الرسوم والصور الكومبيوترية وذلك نقلاً عن أصل هذه الصور والرسوم بحيث جاءت مطابقة تاماً للأصل المأخوذة عنه ولكنها معربة.
ويحتوي هذا الجزء من الكتاب على أربعة أبواب، بها ثلاثة عشر فصلاً، تتضافر جميعها لتعطي تصوراً شاملاً لمعنى الثقافة البصرية وأهميتها في مجال التعلم البصري، والإداراك البصري، وهي كلها مصطلحات تم التعرض لها وشرحها تفصيلاً من جانب مؤلفي هذا الكتاب، وهو كتاب يهم بالدرجة الأولى العاملين في مجال التعليم ولاسيما المتخصصون في مجال تكنولوجيا التعليم وتصميم التعليم، بالإضافة لمن يعملون في مجال الفنون والتربية الفنية، وأيضا في مجال الإعلام بوجه عام ولاسيما في مجال الدعاية والإعلان والتصميم الجرافيكي، إذ أن هذا الكتاب يضع الأسس والقواعد المستخدمة في التصميم الفني والتعليمي والتي لا غنى عنها لمن يعمل في مجال التعليم والإعلام والفنون.
